Description	Written by jason tenzer, owner-more golf today introduction i met club champion golf through doing a promotional sweepstakes to give away an ultimate bag fitting at one of their 10 locations (at the time there were only 7) to 3 lucky more golf today golfers. i was very impressed with the professionalism they presented while working together and wanted to come in and see for myself. years ago i heard of someone getting club fitted and thought this was only for the crazy obsessed golfer. i was wrong. over the years i realized that big box stores (and everywhere else you buy a set of clubs off the rack) are basically selling the same set of clubs to someone 5’8” and 6’0”. that makes no sense. i decided … it’s time! shop while at the pga show in orlando, fl in 2014, i was invited to an event at the club champion golf new store location. this was the 1st time i set foot in a club fitting shop. a putting green, hitting bays, tv, and a wall, yes … a wall, filled with shafts and heads. i was sold and ready to go. leap forward to 6 months down the road and i was on a road trip with my wife and daughter going through chicago. i asked my wife very nicely if i can have a few hours to do “some work” (not lying because i do own the golf company and i’m writing this review for you) and get club fitted. she said yes…phew! the chicago location is downtown on the 2nd floor of an office building. that’s fine, we only need a few hitting bays and that lovely wall of shafts and heads. service my club fitter was matt daly. matt was unbelievable. he was extremely professional and was able to tweak everything that popped up during the fitting (such as me getting gassed towards the end). i hit 201 shots in 2 hours (thanks for the bottle of water). phew! he was very personable and easy to talk to throughout the fitting. he simply walked me through everything and instead of just saying “here’s the club, try this”, he explained to me why and what the differences were and what we’re looking for. even when he had his back turned finding me a new club head, he could hear my shot and tell me what happened. i simply could not have asked for a better experience. in the middle of the club fitting you get a little break and you putt. this is designed to let you relax from swinging 100 times. there were many putters to choose from and since they had my putter there, it made it much easier to do a putter fitting. on a side note, it is beneficial to have your clubs at the fitting. after 7 putts, the computer told me which putter and which grip i should be using … it was the putter and grip i had. i guess i made the right choice. but, my loft and lie needed to be adjusted because i bought it off the rack. needless to say, my putter is in the mail today and will be back shortly. clubs there are 2 things about club champion golf (it is hard to pick just one or even just two) that are great: 1-they have a zero pressure to buy attitude. 2-you can piece together your set. the personal club fitted clubs aren’t cheap. they range from $2,000-$5,000+ for a complete set of clubs (irons, wedges, and woods). what did you think, they’d cost as much as the set off the rack?
